Free chess tactics training in your browser
Chess puzzles are the fastest way to sharpen your tactical vision. Each exercise shows a position where one side has a winning move or a forced sequence — find it, and the opponent's replies play automatically so you can complete the whole line.
Choose from themes like mates in one, forks, pins, and endgames, then pick a difficulty band that matches your level. Every puzzle comes from the curated 1Chess Quest pack used in our mobile app, checked for sound solutions before it ships.

Frequently asked questions
Are these chess puzzles free?
Yes. The trainer is completely free, runs in your browser, and needs no account or download.
What do the difficulty bands mean?
Each puzzle carries a difficulty rating. Beginner covers puzzles below 1100, Easy 1100–1449, Medium 1450–1749, and Hard 1750 and above — pick the band that matches your level, or Any for a mix.
What happens when I play a wrong move?
A wrong but legal move counts as a mistake and snaps back, so you can try again. Illegal moves are simply rejected. On mate puzzles, any legal mating move is accepted even if it differs from the stored solution.
Does my progress save?
Your solved count and recent results are stored in this browser's local storage on your device — nothing is sent to a server, and clearing site data resets it.
